i saw a ghost in your cigarette smoke as you traded your health for a nicotine buzz. and we watched the rising sun like there would be no more to come. with my fingers tangled in my hair and my breath fogging in the air, i spit the words “i’m done with this town.” so i’ll place my feet in all the right spots as i walk away from here, careful not to disturb the ground where i buried all of last year.
